Hello Sydney & Simple Boat Tips

We ended up taking the train with Tom. Most of NSW uses an Opal card to get around on public transport, so we got 4 single trip tickets and took the train, the trains here in NSW are better than Melbourne's. They have lower carriages and upper carriages that are designed to fit more people, it wasn't busy when we went either. The carriages are way cleaner than Melbourne's as well, the ones we took had no graffiti or rubbish on them. Tom got off at the airport stop and after a sobbing, hug-filled goodbye Tom managed to make his way to the airport leaving a wave of tissues behind him. *I'm joking, I'm saying this because I love annoying Tom, and I imagined this would do just nicely. Tom if your reading this, I hope you had an amazing trip back home and finally found a Nandos.*

In summary, when the remaining four of us *sob* got off the train at Town Hall, we had some really good indian food, went shopping, we saw the ferries outside of SeaLife and we walked around Cockle Bay Wharf.

We went back to the boat at about 1.30. The rest of us hadn't even gotten on the boat, and Jacob was already moving his stuff into his room. I started sorting out my room too, and I got thinking on a few tips I can share involving rooms on boats.

Tip 1: When we are under sail, or under motor, we turn off the 240 vault ac, the cabins, and saloon. This means that we have no lights in the bedrooms or in the kitchen/living/dining room. This also means that our power outlets don't work. So what I do, is use battery operated LEDs. So then you can see what your doing and it doesn't use up any of the boat's battery power.

Tip 2: Portable chargers, this is similar to the one above. Even though your power outlets aren't turned on, doesn't mean you can't keep your phone charged. The one I have has two usb ports and a built in torch. Just why is it a good idea to have one of these? We run Navionics [navigation software] on an iPad so it is crucial that this doesn't run out. It's also good to keep your phone alive as another point of contact besides the radio incase something goes wrong. Hopefully it doesn't, but it's still a good idea to have back up plans.

Tip 3: If you read a lot, a electronic reader saves so much space. I personally use a kindle paper white 2nd edition, I have roughly thirty books on there, and my kindle is literally as thin as a pencil.

Jacob is going to be making a post on tips soon, so I'll stop talking about my tips so I don't take all the good ones.
